Greens call for more transparency in offshore drilling approvals

the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority, or “NOPSEMA” as they are alternatively refereed to, are the current authority responsible from decisions regarding drilling within the Great Australian Bight. During a recent senate inquiry in South Australia, it was revealed NOPSEMA had recently been presented with two environmental reports from BP, both of which have been knocked back. The Greens in particular have expressed concern that this information is not made openly available to the Australian public. Should the future of the Great Australian Bight be determined with greater transparency?
