Green groups split over support for clean coal

Several major environment groups have split over investment in so called “Clean Coal” technology. The World Wildlife Fund, or WWF, and the Climate Institute are both under fire from green groups, for joining with the Coal industry and the miners union, in a push to expand clean coal trials. Critics say the idea of trying to capture and store the carbon emissions from coal fired power plants, is a waste of time because it’s largely untested – and would take more than 10 years to get started. But the WWF says all efforts to cut carbon pollution should be looked at.
