The Great Barrier Reef could be at risk, if changes to the environment protection and biodiversity conservation act are accepted in 2013.

State Governments will be given environmental power under the new legislation, however Queensland Premier Campbell Newman says he will protect the environment, but not at the expense of the state’s economic future. Thus the Greens Party is concerned for the wellbeing of the Great Barrier Reef, one of Australia’s most recognised natural wonders.
