Gov announces $1.3 billion boost to cyber security

$470 million will go towards new jobs at the Australian Signals Directorate

The Federal Government says 500 new cyber spies will be trained under a billion-dollar package to shore up Australia’s digital defences.

It follows a warning from Prime Minister Scott Morrison two weeks ago over ongoing cyber attacks by an unnamed country.

While federal intelligence agencies believe China is behind the attacks, Mr Morrison has declined to publicly say so.
