Bad news for the Prime Minister’s Gonski education reforms with all of the states rejecting them at the Council of Australian Governments meeting.

The heads of Australia’s states and territories met in Canberra today to discuss some of the most debated issues of recent months. The  ACT and South Australia had reached a deal for the full rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The debate continues though, particular over anti-gang laws. New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania are backing the laws while Western Australia and Queensland are firmly opposed. The one issue that has seen the states and territories unite though, is the Gonski education reforms.
