A study conducted by the University of New South Wales has revealed that the oceans around the Coffs Harbour region have been suffering from kelp loss due to increased levels of tropical fish.

This phenomenon is referred to as tropicalisation, and is the result of a rise in temperature of 0.6 degrees celsius over the ten year period of the study.

This occurrence is an important indicator that it is not just the direct effects of climate change that we should be concerned with.
