Gillard joins the “tough on refugees” election auction

The Prime Minister Julia Gillard has indicated that she’s going to fight hard when it comes to refugees in the coming election. On the weekend the PM announced that she wants a public debate on boat arrivals, and made it clear she’s sympathetic with Australians who are concerned about border security. To many it’s a clear signal that she’s joining Opposition leader Tony Abbott in an election auction on who’s the toughest on refugees.
