Ghost gear comprises derelict and abandoned fishing gear such as nets which floats around the ocean, damaging marine life.

It is estimated that each year 640,000 tonnes of ghost gear enters our oceans, and some of this can take centuries to break down.

The Global Ghost Gear Initiative hopes to unite nations from around the world to fight the problem.
