Researchers from the Australian National University have released a set of criteria they say Australian governments should follow if they want to create lasting benefits for the country out of any stimulus plans.

They focus on timely projects that can be started soon, employ lots of people also bring environmental and social benefits.

This includes investments in energy efficiency for public buildings and low income earners as well as renewable energy, reforestation and active transport projects like cycling and walking paths.
