More pollies in Lycra was the catchcry this week from South Australian Greens MP Mike Parnell. He launched what he believes to be the first call in Australia for more politicians to get on their bikes and ride to work. It may be a while before we see John Howard and Kevin Rudd arriving at Parliament House on pushbikes, but several SA MPs already do, and were at the launch to show their support for the idea, which Mark Parnell outlined to the Wire’s Farrin Foster.
