Woodside’s planned $34 billion project has long been a source of controversy, and some environmental groups say there hasn’t been enough research done into how marine life will be affected.

The proposed Liquefied Natural Gas hub on the Kimberley coastline in Western Australia has been given the green light by the state’s environmental body. The Environmental Protection Authority’s approval came with a list of 29 conditions, including that fossilised dinosaur footprints on the Dampier Peninsula remain intact, and that activity around Humpback Whale migration routes be limited.
