Schapelle Corby was today sentenced by an Indonesian court to 20 years goal for drug smuggling. Most Australians seem to passionaltely believe that she’s innocent and that her trial hasn’t been conducted by Australian standards of justice. Cultural commentator Jackie Cook says the public’s reaction eclipses even the impact of the Bali bombings. Expatriate Janet De Neefe who lives in Ubud says the trial is causing bad feeling as Balinese are insulted at the fuss being made and the implication that their justice system isn’t up to scratch.
