Venom’s and poisonous animals, plants and insects are commonly associated as pain inducers that are feared. But Researchers have found an unlikely source of pain relief from venomous marine life. The cone snail has been found to treat chronic nerve pain akin to morphine. The study found that pain was reduced significantly and if dispersed in oral form will be a breakthrough in pain medicine. Joline Samawi talks to Professor Bryan Fry from The University of Queensland about the cone snail and the uses of studying venom’s for remedial treatment.
