Is it right to shut down a campus debate if you don’t like how its being handled? On Friday Sydney Uni’s Student Representative Council picketed a pro-life forum called Closing Abortion Clinic, featuring the president of a Missisippi group that has closed down all but one of six abortion clinics in that US state. The Wire assessed the state of free speech in Australian universities, starting with Kate Barnsley, the uiversity’s women’s officer who was behind picketing the talk.
