It’s a cultural practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders extended families to play a key role in raising children, particularly when parents are unable to.

Kin carers are often informally given the role of main caregiver, but are not always informed of services that can assist them in doing so.

The Federal Circuit Court in Cairns is hosting a Kin Carers Forum on Friday 6 September at Wuchopperen in Cairns to connect up kin carers with services and support.
