Nicole Cornes may have expected a breezy entrance into federal politics when she joined the Australian Labor Party recently. The Sunday Mail Columist and wife of football personality Graham Cornes has always enjoyed a big slice of the spotlight. But nothing could have prepared her for the barrage of criticism coming her way this week. The ALP has been forced to defend their new star candidate, saying her law studies and motherhood make sufficient experience to put her touch with mainstream Australia. To find out how much of an advantage star status is in politics, the Wire’s farrin Foster spoke with Flinders University Politics Professor Hayden Manning. Farrin also spoke with members of the public to guage their reaction to the new recruit.
