Alan Jones has come out swinging against the Australian Communications and Media Authority’s finding that he breached the code’s laws of racial vilification and inciting violence at the time of the Cronulla race-riots. He and fellow owner of Sydney radio station 2GB, John Singleton have sworn they’ll fight any sanctions imposed on them by the industry regulator all the way to the High Court if necessary. Despite this aggressive stance people in the Media industry have called on Jones to take responsibility for his words. Mohmmed El-Leissy is an Australian-born Muslim of Egyptian heritage and regularly broadcasts on Melbourne radio station 3CR. Both He and Columnist with The Australian newspaper, Mark Day, spoke with the Wire about Jones’ culpability.
