First Aboriginal health research conference
Nearly 200 researchers and academics have come together for the NSW Aboriginal Health Research Conference…the first of its kind in the State and indeed the country. The aim is to showcase Indigenous health studies undertaken in NSW…as well as provide an opportunity for researchers to share information with policy makers. A range of projects was discussed – from studies on kidney disease to intervention trials for Indigenous women who smoke during pregnancy. Meanwhile, Human Rights Commissioner Sed Oxdowski has called for government leadership and resources to fix what he calls a “crisis” in Australia’s mental health system.
