Indigenous women who are victims of domestic violence face many challenges when it comes to finding safe housing; often, rotating through three main places being: a friend/family home, a refuge house or remaining in the unsafe home.

Unlike non-indigenous women they face greater challenges when trying to seek safe shelter.

The lack of culturally appropriate responses to Indigenous domestic and family violence cases has lead mothers, fathers and children isolated and disempowered.
