The Torres Strait’s first ever cricket club has been established at Thursday Island as a result of an innovative program in Indigenous Communities in Queensland’s far north. The Eddie Gilbert development program is taking the game to Cape York and the Torres Strait with coaching clinics and awareness workshops. Co-ordinator Nev Paulsen says to get cricket up and running at such a remote location hasn’t been easy.
