In Iraq this week, fighting has continued around the city of Fallujah. US forces claim to control most of the city, but they’re still finding pockets of resistance. In recent days, television footage has emerged of a US marine shooting an unarmed Iraqi, and Arab leaders are calling it a war crime. In their defence, the Americans claim the insurgents are not following the usual rules of engagement, and are booby-trapping wounded or dead fighters. Dash Lawrence spoke with Dr John Bruni from Adelaide University’s department of Asian Studies about the way the American’s have approached the attack in to Fallujah.
