Dr. Kalinga Seneviratne in his new book ‘Myth of ‘Free Media’ and Fake News in the Post-Truth Era’ argues that news media as the “fourth estate’ is basically dead as the media has become commercialised. Free media is in fact a myth in the age of manufacturing consent, and ‘fake news’ is a fear of the alternative.
