Fair Work Act amendments may weaken workers’ rights

Proposed changes to the Fair Work Act are yet to be voted upon by the Senate. The Federal Government says the proposed amendments in the Fair Work Amendment Bill are simply designed to implement recommendations of the former Labor government’s Review of the Fair Work Act. However, changes including amendments to the operation of IFAs have raised concerns that if the Bill is passed, the Fair Work Act may no longer adequately safeguard vulnerable employees.
