The European Parliament passed their new digital copyright law on Wednesday.

The bill was created to update copyright law for the internet age, but it has been widely criticised as a tool for censorship.

Its goal was to credit content creators for their work but many view the new provisions as overly restrictive, curbing free speech and the sharing of information.
