Election 2013: Coalition to ‘streamline’ environmental regulation

The Federal Coalition today relaunched a whole slew of existing policies that they say will cut $1 Billion in so-called Green Tape. Included were such stalwarts as the repeal of the mining and carbon taxes, but also included the delegation to the states of environmental assessment and approval of major projects. Environmental groups have long been against such a move, as they claim states either can’t or won’t do the job adequately.
