Today has seen a rallying dollar and a stock market surge after encouraging economic signs. Yesterdays national accounts figures for the March quarter were double what was expected and the jobless rate rose only marginally while full time positions increased. But men have benefited more than women.

The male unemployment rate remainied at 4.8 per cent, while female unemployment incresed to 5.5 per cent.At the same time 5.5 per cent of males experienced underemployment compared with 9.6 per cent of females.
