The Labor party is pushing for 5-days of domestic violence leave for all Australian employees. Many private sector companies already offer domestic violence leave to their employees, with some offering as many as 10 days.

While most of the Coalition hasn’t commented on the policy, Finance Minister Mathias Cormann’s has said that domestic violence leave would be “another cost” to the economy.

So what difference can 5 days make? And what is domestic violence costing the economy?
