Emerging again in Western Africa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ebola has made the second-largest outbreak in history. Although cases have been confirmed since August last year, it was only declared an international health emergency by the World Health Organisation yesterday.

There has been extensive international aid provided to the affected regions in DRC, however, a lot more funding, humanitarian workers, health infrastructure, surveillance, and security preparations need to be provided to contain the situation and limit the spread of the disease. Being a war-stricken country, it is crucial to provide support and work closely together with the communities.
