Drug for opioid addiction could be treatment for Long COVID

There now may be a solution to Long COVID. Low-dose naltrexone, a drug commonly used to treat opioid addiction has been identified for potential treatment.
The study found that the naltrexone ‘opens up’ the ion channels which connect our cells. This allows for greater communication between cells, stronger immune response, pain regulation and neurological functions.
Those suffering from Long COVID are now putting their hands up to be one of the first to try the drug hoping to be free of the symptoms plaguing them.
There has been a lot of discussion on the causes of long covid and with Naltrexone being widely available in pharmacies across Australia already it may prove to be the answer for many sufferers.
