Prime Minister Tony Abbott was in Adelaide today, ahead of Saturday’s state election, announcing plans to purchase a fleet of drones which will be used for long range maritime surveillance and border protection.

The drones will be used for search and rescue, but could also be used for patrolling for illegal fishing and asylum seeker boats.
