New family violence legislation has been proposed in Victoria which would allow domestic violence victims to name and shame their offenders. The proposal also includes changes to allow police to issue family violence safety notices 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and also victims might be able to avoid facing perpetrators at court. But there are many implications to consider including rehabilitation of the perpetrator and managing the mental health of the victims.
