A potential merger between Qantas and British Airways will depend on the outcome of a review by the government’s Foreign Investment Review Board. The government are considering lifting the current percentage holding that foreign airlines can have in Qantas from 35 to 49 per cent, but this could result in a loss of jobs for some of Qantas’s 38,000 employees.
