A catholic hospital’s decision to prevent doctors from giving patients written contraception advice could force doctors to breach their duty of care. The doctors at Calvary Mater Hospital are only allowed to give a verbal “statement of reproductive risk” to patients taking a drug that could cause severe birth defects. But this might not be enough to ensure the patients have the information they need to protect themselves against the risk of unwanted pregnancy.
