The population of Tasmanian Devils is rapidly decreasing as they succumb to an epidemic of facial cancer. In a bid to stop them becoming extinct, an insurance policy developed by the ‘Save the Devil Program’ has been put in place on Maria Island which effectively keeps non-contaminated Tasmanian devils from coming into contact with the disease.

Howel Williams, the Director of Save the Tasmanian Devil Program says that the Insurance program is necessary to save them however not all think it will work.
