Designated Protest Zones – But No Sign of Protestors in Beijing

Protestors need a permit in Beijing; there have been several arrests and deportations of activists and journalists since the Olympic Games began but none of those arrested chose to go through the Chinese Public Security Bureau and apply for permission. In fact the story currently being told is that the one Chinese man who did apply for permission to protest was taken into custody just for applying. So the three parks that Chinese authorities have set aside for protest haven’t seen any action so far. Annie Hastwell spoke to Wire Correspondent, Stephanie Raison, who was at one of the designated protest parks in Bejing.
