Kate Swaffer was diagnosed with early onset dementia in her late forties. Four years later basic skills like reading, counting and even getting dressed are starting to decline. She’s decided to raise awareness of the issues facing younger dementia sufferers by presenting a show at this year’s Adelaide Fringe Festival.

She says dementia is a very lonely experience – people avoid talking about it. Cancer used to be like that but now has a high public profile and Kate Swaffer hopes raising awareness could do the same for dementia.
