One of the great mysteries of the twentieth centuries was solved this week, with former FBI Deputy Director Mark Felt announcing that he was Deep Throat – the confidential source who leaked information to Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein as part of the Watergate investigation that eventually led to the resignation of US President Richard Nixon.
