Darwin Immigration Centre Fuels Mental Health Concerns

The Federal Government has announced plans for a new 1500 bed detention centre in Darwin to house asylum seekers. This has fuelled debate on Australia’s treatment of refugees. The Northern Territory facility is for adult males only, and while the Government has begun to address concerns regarding vulnerability of women and children, men are also at risk. It is a $9.2 million project.
