The koala is as Australian as Uluru, The Sydney Opera House and the baggy green on Steve Waugh’s head. But the Australian Koala Foundation said this week that koalas in the wild are on a downward spiral towards extinction. They want the Federal Environment Minister to list the Koala as vulnerable before it’s too late. Deborah Tabart, the CEO of the Australian Koala Foundation, told Annie Hastwell about the emerging Koala crisis. Annie Hastwell also spoke to Matt Turner from the Nature Conservation Society. His group has taken the unpopular view towards the Koalas that are supposedly infesting Kangaroo Island. He says that, as sad and as strange as it seems, a cull is required.
