Western Australia Pride Fair Day and Melbourne’s Midsumma Carnival have already taken place this year to celebrate sexual diversity, and the Sydney Mardi Gras festival is still underway. Attendees at any of these events might have seen some recruiters for the COUNT study. COUNT is an effort to test the rates of HIV among gay men, and identify people living with the virus who aren’t aware of their condition. Emma Rennie investigates.
The COUNT study will also be visiting Brisbane and Adelaide later this year, so if you’re interested, keep an eye out for the Gay Community Periodic Survey and take part through that.
