The future of the South Australian steel town, Whyalla hangs in the balance today as creditors are furiously negotiating a possible bailout package for steel manufacturer Arrium.

Union members and industry experts are calling on the SA and federal governments to step in and support the company until a deal can be reached. They say failing to do so could see Whyalla become a ghost town and Australia’s steel industry a thing of the past.
