Community organisations fear cuts in government assistance will see more people at their doors seeking help while their staff numbers fall due to a reduction in wage supplement funding going to the sector.

The survey of over 700 workers around Australia shows while the Coronavirus Supplement and JobKeeper have greatly assisted their clients and helped keep the sector afloat, scheduled cuts are expected to reverse these gains.

The sector is now calling for permanent increases in the Job Seeker rate as well as funding certainty over the Equal Remuneration Order pay supplement, which has helped lift the pay of the female-dominated sector since it was first introduced.
