Coalition sticks to ‘direct action’ on carbon despite economists’ criticisms

The debate over a carbon tax rolls on with claims from the opposition that the carbon tax will lead to price increases for all sorts of everyday necessities. But at the same time there’s increasing scrutiny of the opposition’s plan to abate carbon emissions. Economists of all kinds, including long-time supporters of the coalition are saying that the opposition’s ‘direct action’ scheme doesn’t add up. They that a price on carbon is necessary to kick-start the changes needed for reducing our emissions.
