Coal-fired power wanes, but what is the future?

A new report out by Pitty and Sherry shows the proportion of electricity produced by coal-fired power plants has dropped by almost 10% since 2008. At the same time the proportion of Australia’s electricity produced by gas and renewable energy sources has increased to 12.7% and 12.5% respectively. But why is coal’s share of Australia’s power reducing, and will it continue? Josh Nicholas reports.
