A cloudseeding program in the Snowy Mountains may become a permanent fixture if the state government gives it the nod. The trial project is being conducted by the Snowy Hydro Corporation which says snowfalls are up by 14%, and that there are no significant environmental impacts. But green groups aren’t convinced. They say that there is still not hard evidence that the technique works, and more time is needed before committing to a permanent scheme.
