Cleaners are on a 24 hour strike at parliament house in Canberra. They’re protesting cuts to their wages after the federal government abolished Commonwealth Cleaning Guidelines allowing cleaning contractors to reduce their wages. The action is part of International Cleaner’s Day on which cleaners award the dubious honor of a golden toilet brush to the person least helpful to their cause. This year’s winner, Treasurer Joe Hockey, for his comments over getting a better job.
