It’s been nearly twenty years since the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power station shocked the world. But with Greenhouse gases rising and the world’s coal supply limited, an increasing number of scientists are again talking about nuclear power as the way of the future. Dr Donna Green from OzProspect says the environmental impact of a nuclear power station is more far-reaching than the power it produces. To see this impact first-hand, Friends of the Earth Australia have gone on a week-long tour of regional South Australia. Tour coordinator Joel Catchlove says they plan to visit Uranium mines and meet with the region’s indigenous communities.
