After finally being allowed to inspect allegations of Human Right abuse in Sri Lanka, United Nations Human Rights High Commissioner Navi Pillay says the country is going down the path to authoritarianism. Pillay is concerned that the army is not being demobilized, the harassment and intimidation of priests, journalists and ordinary citizens, widespread disappearances including the notorious “white vans”, and the prevalence of sexual harassment and abuse.
