A Chinese leader visiting Australia got a rude shock today when he was served with a legal docuement accusing him of being complicit in torture. Zhang Dejiang, secretary of the Communist party, Committee of Guangdong Province, received a summons to the NSW Supreme Court for the torture of a Chinese woman in a prison camp – she was a falun gong practioner who is now an Australian citizen. He was attending a business meeting of Australian and Chinese leaders at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney when a person representing the woamn surprised him with a court order.
