The colourful fliers announce that the Chinese Spectacular is the “only dance and music showcasing the best of authentic Chinese Culture”. Not, however, according to the Chinese consulate in Victoria. China’s Consul- General in Melbourne wrote to various state MPs urging them not to attend the show, claiming it aims to damage friendly relationships between China and the world. The show opens in Sydney tomorrow night, continuing on through to Brisbane, Canberra and Adelaide.
